Swingaway Hitch Receiver

I wanted to design and build a swingaway hitch reciever to carry bikes while allowing access to a truck camper setup. This was my first welding and fabrication project, and I really enjoyed working with metal and the versatility and durability of the material. Throughtout the build process, my key design constraints were the ability to hold 100lb of bikes and 60lb of bike rack, the ability to stay in position when it was swung out, and clearance with the tailgate and side of the vehicle. The hitch had three pre-set positions - travel mode for transport, 90deg from transport mode, and then 150deg from transport mode, to keep the bikes fully out of the way when at camp and cooking from the camper kitchen.
